Sports Day 2023

Killusty N.S. held Sports Day on June 6th 2023. The weather obliged on the day as the children enjoyed many activity stations in the morning followed by an al fresco Teddy Bears picnic and ice cream. The races were held in the afternoon - some fun, some competitive.  The day finished off with rounders and basket-ball. Much fun was had by all.

School Tour 2023

On May 31st 2023, the highlight of the year arrived  - The School Tour! This year we ventured across the border and enjoyed a lovely, sunny day in Castlecomer Discovery Park. It was an all-active affair. Children in the Senior Room enjoyed lots of games, boating, high circuit challenges and ziplines. Meanwhile, Junior Room children explored every inch of the playground, completed a forest scavenger hunt, mastered a low-circuit challenge and bounced to their hearts delight in the bouncing nets. More fun-time followed in the Playstation, Kilkenny - climbing frames and slides galore.  A tremendous day all round.

Pedigree Day

On May 19th 2023, children from Killusty N.S. made their way to Clonmel to enjoy the annual Pedigree Day hosted by the Museum in association with the Clonmel Show.  Children enjoyed spending time with the animals, observing horse shoes being made by the local black smith, watching a sheep being sheared, figuring out stem problems and observing activities of old, such as spinning.

Junior Room School Tour 2022

Children in the Junior Room went on the much awaited School Tour on June 1st 2022. Our First stop was Marl Hill Open Farm where we were greeted with hot chocolate and cookies. This was followed by a tour of the animal pens, some go carting and out door play. Next up was a whizz around for all on the barrel ride. Our morning of Marl Hill fun was finished off with some indoor activity in the soft play area. Obviously, with all that fun, we worked up an appetite. McDonalds was next on the itinerary where we enjoyed some much needed refreshments including some ice cream that went down a treat. After that we headed for a game of bowling followed by a trip to St. Patrick's Well in Clonmel  where we appreciated the tranquility, relaxed and cooled our weary feet. What a day - and the sun shone brightly to boot. A most enjoyable day for all.

Senior Room School Tour 2022

Children in the Senior Room travelled to Dunmore East Activity Centre on June 1st for their first school tour in three years and it was certainly worth the wait. Children began their day by rock climbing followed by caving and archery. After lunch, came the major attractions of the day, the water activities. Children jumped and splashed into the water from the Wibit and also tried their hand at paddleboarding/canoeing. It was a fun filled, action packed day and a well earned treat for all the children.

Fun Run and Open Day

On Sunday 15th of May 2022, a 5K fun-run took place in the village of Killusty – A fund-raising event organised by the parents Association in support of Killusty N.S. The sun never announced itself that morning which was a welcoming relief for our runners and walkers – A perfect day for outdoor activities – dry and pleasant. After much limbering up, Christy Williams did the honours of announcing the starting Count-Down and we were off! Our well-organised fun run was managed masterfully by Bernard Feery and enjoyed immensely by all participants. The run was followed up by a fun-filled open morning in Killusty N.S.  where visitors were warmly welcomed by school staff. The children’s wonderful art work and projects took centre stage and were appreciated by all our visitors. Parents helped out with some much-needed refreshments and activities were provided for young and old alike. A wonderful morning in Killusty – enjoyed by one and all.
