Local Blitz

On Wednesday June 21st 2023, Killusty Children travelled to the new Town Park in Fethard to play in a Gaelic Football blitz with children from Fethard and Moy Glass primary schools. All the games were played in good spirits and everyone was a winner!

As part of our ASF work, all children in Killusty N.S. completed the P.A.W.S programme in May - Primary, Aquatic, Water, Safety. Children learned important tips about keeping safe near water, especially over the summer holiday season. Upon completion of training, certificates were awarded to all.

Physical Activity

ASF - June Activities

During the month June, the ASF committee, with the help of the other children, created active school zones. Children took turns playing at the different stations and activities were changed regularly.
Also in June, children in the Senior Room took part in a Gaelic Football Blitz. Local schools in the area participated and great fun was enjoyed by all the children.

ASF - April Activities

For April we are doing Playground Games at lunch and break times. We have compiled a schedule for the two weeks in April. Pictured below is the schedule for the two weeks.

We also did a 10 at 10 with School Fitness Ireland

ASF - March Activities

In March, building on our fitness from our February Daily Mile, we embarked on a 'Run around Ireland challenge. Initially we hoped to run to Waterford City and back but such was the success of the challenge that we ran to Limerick city from Waterford and then back to Killusty. We totalled a distance of 265km.

We are using an Excel spreadsheet to keep track of the distance run by each child every day .

The distance from Killusty to Waterford to Limerick and back to Killusty is 264km according to AA Routeplanner.
We participated in the FAI South Tipp schools soccer blitz entering two teams and had a great day out.

ASF - February Activities

February has arrived. Now that Spring is here we are outdoors again walking and running our daily mile. The ASF team measured the walkway with a trundle wheel and also with the help of Mapmyrun technology.
Swimming continues every Tuesday.

Our walkway lap measures at 250m. To run/walk a mile you have to run 6 and a half laps!
The senior room incorporated a relay to get there mile run some days. We looked at the correct baton changeover and positioning for incoming and outgoing runners.

The ASF team sorted out our P.E. store. They completed an inventory and repaired and pumped as needed. We are shopping for some new yard games and some replacement sport kits.
