Slievenamon Project

In July 2023, Killusty N.S was one of many schools asked to participate in highlighting the 175th Anniversary of the 1848 Rising at Ballingarry and Slievenamon. Each school told its unique story of Slievenamon and  under the guidance of local artist, Mia Kearney, the children brought their story to life through art. Killusty school children chose the story of Margaret Maher- a young woman from Slievenamon who emigrated to America in the 1850s and crossed paths with the poet, Emily Dickinson. The rest as they say is History.
