Snow much fun!
On November 17th Killusty children welcomed a frosty break from the classroom.
Science Week 2024
The Children got stuck into Science Week and enjoyed many fun and interesting science experiments.
During Science Week we also had a visit from our Green Schools Advisor.
Cineáltas - World Kindness Day
Children in Killusty N.S. celebrated World Kindness Day on November 13th 2024. We wore odd socks, made posters and left surprise wellbeing messages in our library books! Our message is that Kindness is not just for one day - It's for Life.
We also supported Diabetes Day on November 14th - We all wore something blue.
County Football Champions
Congratulations to the Killusty U13 team who were crowned County Football Champions against a very strong Castleiney NS team on November 15th in Littleton. Played on a cool, wet morning, the team dug deep to bring home the shield to the school for the first time since 2017. Well done to all involved.
Spooky Fun in Killusty
A great evening of Spooky Fun took place in Killusty on October 28th including face painting, story telling, bon fire, pumpkin carving and traditional Hallowe'en Games. A super evening organised by the Killusty Community.
Credit Union Art Competition
Great success for Killusty N.S. in the 2024 Credit Union Art Competition. Isabel Holohan secured First Place in the 11 to 13yr category, followed by Catilin Feery in Second Place. Olivia Feery secured Third Place in 7 years and under category. Congratulations to the three girls and well done to all our pupils on such imaginative entries.

Thanks to Killusty Crafts for gifting the children some very Spooky Halloween Houses and Bats to make. Getting us right in the mood for Halloween.

Dance at Killusty N.S.
As part of the Tipperary Dance International Festival, Tipperary Dance Theatre brought a morning of interactive dance to Killusty School on Friday the 18th of October. Movement and Dance was based on a Monsters theme - a captivating dance performance enjoyed by all.
Scoil Ruáin Taster Day
A very enjoyable taster day at Scoil Ruáin was had on October 17th. The 5th and 6th class dabbled in some coding, woodwork and made some delicious cookies. This was followed by a brilliant performance of 'Back to the 80s' by the TYs. Thank you so much for having us and keeping us well fed during the day.
Cross Country
Congratulations to all our athletes who participated in the schools cross country in Clonmel on Wednesday October 16th.
In the boys 3rd and 4th class race, Ted Purcell finished in 2nd place with Charlie O Flynn in 9th, Gus O'Flynn 10th - all gaining individual medals for top 10 positions with George O'Flynn 13th and Rowan Holohan in 19th place. These boys combined very well to win the team event.
In the girls 5th and 6th, Zoe Thompson led the girls home in 2nd place with Kate Gaule in 6th, Zara Thompson in 7th - all winning individual medals with Caitlin Feery in 34th and Imogen Coen in 37th. The girls ran so well they came 1st in the team category.
In the final race of the day, Tristan Bryne ran a great race to finish 7th winning an individual medal with Javier Martín finishing in 21st place.
After all that running we made a quick trip to the playground to top our day off!

Fundraising for Charity
Children in Killusty N.S. participated in Goal Jersey Day on October 11th 2024. We were happy to help a worthy cause.
Green Schools 2024-2025
Work has begun on our next Green Flag - Travel. Our school children participated in Walk to School week in October 2024. Thankfully the weather cooperated.
Cumann na mBunscol
On Wednesday the 9th October, our U13 Football team travelled to Holycross to participate in the U13 Cumann na mBunscol football blitz. Playing against Skeheenarinky NS, Castleiney NS and Ballysloe NS, we acquitted ourselves well and took the win in all our matches booking our place in the County Final in the coming weeks. Well done to everyone who played so well.
Autumn has arrived !
We welcomed Autumn in by investigating falling leaves and their matching nuts and fruits. We also got busy printing - finger printing for the body of the Squirrel and sponge printing for the bushy tail. After our Autumn Hunt we made Autumn Headbands and made leaf prints and leaf rubbings out of our findings.
Junior Room Fairy Tales
As part of Aistear, Junior Room children worked on the theme of Fairy Tales. We made a small world for Rapunzel and also performed a puppet show.
Tipperary Primary Schools Cross Country
Well done to all who ran in such testing weather conditions in Thurles on Wednesday September 25th. Ted Purcell secured an individual medal coming home in 5th place and leading his team of Charlie O'Flynn, Gus O'Flynn, George O'Flynn, Rowan Holohan and Kaiden Power to the bronze team medals. Kate Gaule and Imogen Coen ran their hearts out in their race along with Tristan Byrne and Javi Martin who put in gutsy performances in a very competitive race! Lots of medals coming home and 6 top 20 positions!
